Market Rasen
Overview
Market Rasen is a bustling market town standing on the western edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and is famous for having the only racecourse in Lincolnshire. The town is popular with walkers and there are great routes and trails just five minutes stroll from the town centre. You can also head out to Willingham Woods where there are numerous trails and paths for all ages and abilities. Originally the market took place on Sundays but was moved to Tuesdays in the early 13th century. Over the years it has seen a wide assortment of goods bought and sold, such as cattle, arable crops, grain, coal, fertiliser and salt. It is still an integral part of the town with all sorts of bargains up for grabs including an auction that takes place every week.
